ICT Industry stakeholders comprising participants from service providers, the public sector, oil and gas companies, energy companies, military and security agencies amongst others were recently hosted to a workshop on the evolution of the data center organized by Layer3 and Juniper Networks.
The workshop which held at the Intercontinental Hotel, Lagos, with the theme, Data Centre Instant Evolution, was filled with thought provoking presentations that illustrated surviving in the evolving digital world. Mark Hosking, Juniper Data Centre & Virtualization Leader, MEA, in his presentation titled “Enabling Organizations for Data Center Leadership”, emphasized the need for organizations to automate operations and virtualize solutions for business value to be realized as the status quo as we know it is changing rapidly. He rounded up by making the participants understand the importance of ensuring that the data center, and its underlying infrastructure, can keep pace with the demands placed upon it in the present and can scale for future demands.
Irene Okuekhamhen, Solutions Architect at Layer3 said “We at Layer3 strongly believe that this is a good opportunity for the Nigerian Enterprise and Service Provider community. As organizations plan to build or grow their data centers, there arises the need for a scalable and secure data center network architecture that could help maximize growth and deliver consistent high quality service that customers, both internal and external, expect.”
Participants at the workshop included staff from Airtel, MTN, DSS, Defense Headquarters, EStream Networks, Nigerian Stock Exchange, Interswitch, PENCOM amongst others.
